The Bruins will have home ice advantage should the series go to game seven; which would make them heavy favourites in the NHL odds.
The Blues have undoubtedly had a trickier time in reaching the NHL finals. This will only be their fourth appearance in the Stanley Cup, and they have lost on the previous three occasions; with their most recent appearance in 1970 ending in a 4-0 defeat against the Bruins.
St. Louis overcame the Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars to reach the conference final against the San Jose Sharks. On both their opening rounds they had to settle for wins in games six and seven, which means they have spent more time on the ice than any of the times that took part in the conference finals.
The series against the Sharks was as entertaining as they come; with an average of 6.3 goals per game. The Blues are a side that punters can utilise the over markets with by using Oddsguard.
The gripping series reaching its conclusion in game six, when the Blues ran away 5-1 winners in San Jose. Ivan Barbashev, David Perron, Tyler Bozak, Brayden Schenn and Vladimir Tarasenko scored the goals for the travelling St. Louis side. But, they will undoubtedly enter the NHL finals as the underdogs in the NHL odds.
After overcoming a stiff assignment in their opening round matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Boston Bruins have gone from strength-to-strength in the post-season. They are a shining light of exactly how you would want a team to be performing ahead of the crucial NHL final; they are only improving on the ice.
Following their 4-3 series win over the Leafs, they came back from 2-0 down to the Columbus Blue Jackets to progress in game six.
The Bruins followed this up with a comprehensive whitewash series win over the Carolina Hurricanes; progressing 4-0. The last of the games ended in a 4-0 victory on away ice; in which Patrice Bergeron scored a brace, and there was one apiece for David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand. The latter of which has enjoyed an excellent post-season by scoring seven and assisting eleven goals.
However, no team can claim to have a worse record than the Bruins in the NHL finals, as they have lost on 13 occasions; winning only six times. Their last victory came in their 2011 win over the Vancouver Cannucks. Bruins fans’ will be hoping that they won’t be disappointed this time around.
